MICHAEL C. LITMAN

Mike Litman has been a civil litigation attorney for nearly a decade. Prior to founding LITMAN PLLC, Mike practiced as a defense attorney for several years at both a national AmLaw 100 firm and a regional Virginia-based defense firm. During this time, he successfully handled hundreds of individual and class action lawsuits in state and federal court throughout Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.

For the majority of his career, Mike has focused on litigation pertaining to consumer issues, including fair debt collection practices, credit reporting, predatory mortgage lending, and telephone harassment. Mike has also successfully litigated matters related to personal injury, local government liability, construction, employment, environmental, real property, complex mineral rights disputes, and business litigation.

In addition to litigation, Mike has devoted a portion of his practice to business and real estate transactions including mergers and acquisitions of both publicly traded and closely held companies; the sale and purchase of commercial assets; negotiations of mineral, timber, oil and gas leases; corporate resolutions; promissory notes; pledges; warrants; issuing stock or membership interests; and real property conveyances.

Although he now considers Richmond home, Mike grew up and spent his formative years in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Drew University with a B.A. in Political Science in 2004. While in undergrad, Mike was a four year member of the Drew Men’s Lacrosse team and was selected as a captain during his senior year. He has remained active in the sport of lacrosse since graduating college as both a high school and youth coach and avid fan of the sport.

Mike graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2011. After graduation, Mike practiced law in Maryland, before moving to Charleston, West Virginia to be with his now wife, M.R. Mike practiced in Charleston for several years before moving to Richmond, where he and M.R. now reside with their two young children and Brittany spaniels, Winnie & Biscuit.
